This musician, scientist, and explorer participated in the Antarctic Biennale, the first-ever art expedition to the shores of Antarctica. In March 2017, she performed barefoot at Paradise Bay, creating a musical work that viscerally captures the Antarctic environment. Shama dropped hydrophones into the frozen sea and placed them on ice sheets to record in-situ sounds of whale song and cracking ice, which she then integrated into her songs.
