After 36 years of isolation in a Patagonian cabin, Ivan Moricz Karl seeks solace from society's distractions to pursue his singular passion: uninterrupted painting.
Ivan is a highly specialized painter who focuses exclusively on Patagonian nature, a rare and beautiful species that can only survive in extreme climatic conditions. Ivan has made his home at the western end of Lake Lolog since the 1980s, in a remote area that is only accessible by water or air. He lives in a cabin that was once used by a park ranger in the Lanin National Park, surrounded by the stunning natural beauty of the region. Despite the challenges of living in such an isolated location, Ivan continues to hone his craft and produce breathtaking works of art that capture the unique spirit of Patagonian wildlife.
He has no electricity, no communication other than a VHF radio, therefore he spends his days inspired by nature. It often happens that the work and the artist are attractive in equal measure, and this is no exception.
Contrary to what is expected of a hermit, he is a great host, warmly receiving frequent visitors during the summer, a time when he hardly paints at all. Like a squirrel saves his nuts, Ivan reserves his inspiration for autumn and winter, painting during all the daylight hours the sun gives him, comfortable in his nest far from society.
